Activity Topic - Under the Biotech Kisan Hub project sponsored by DBT, New Delhi, the scientists from ICAR-DWR, Jabalpur organized Training cum Farmers Meeting at project cites of Hoshangabad and Sehore District of Madhya Pradesh on 16 and 17 January 2020. The details are:- Training cum Farmers Meeting at Sukarwada, Hoshangabad on 16 January 2020• Training cum farmers meeting was organized at Sukarwada village of Hoshangabad, where field demonstrations were conducted.• Around 60 farmers were participated in the training programme from the demonstration sites. We conducted training on the advanced weed management practices besides demonstration sites and attended each and very theoretical and practical problems. They were imparted knowledge on different aspects of herbicides use, effective herbicides to be applied in crops, their application methods, timing of application, safety aspects, herbicide rotation, herbicide resistance, weed identification procedures etc. Famers were interacted with us and gained the knowledge and confidence on weed management.• It was felt that famers were less aware about the herbicide application methodologies and safety precautions. They were using faulty techniques due to which less control of weeds was observed and reported as well. We visited their fields as well as demonstrated fields at Sukarwada and Vidaroda villages and enriched their knowledge on use of herbicide application procedures.
